The project originally started in 2005 using a GMC RV. In 2007, a 1956 GM PD-4104 bus was purchased to replace the RV. In 2009, a custom license plate of "HACKBUS" was registered.

While the sole purpose is just transportation, the bus is loaded with technological features and creature comforts such as air conditioning, a navigation system, a communication center, live DJ, and cellular internet.
